Privacy policy

Text you enter into the translator is sent to a third-party machine translation service in order to be translated. That is how the tool works — there is no on-device translation happening.

This means anything you paste in leaves this site. Do not enter confidential, medical, financial or personally identifying information into the translator — on this site or on any other free translation tool.

• Translation cache. Translated text is held in memory for up to 24 hours so repeated requests do not hit the upstream service again. It is not written to a database and is lost when the server restarts.
• Rate limiting. We keep a short-lived in-memory count of requests per IP address to stop one visitor exhausting the service. It is discarded after about ten minutes of inactivity.
• Corrections you submit. If you send a correction or use the contact form, what you wrote is stored, along with contact details if you chose to give them. Leave that field blank and the submission is anonymous.

We do not keep a log of translations tied to you. There is no account system, so there is no profile to build.

• Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark.
• Recently used languages — so the picker can put them near the top.

Both use localStorage, both stay on your device, and neither is sent to us. Clearing your browser storage removes them.

Beyond those two, IlocanoToTagalog sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics does set cookies — see below.

The sections above describe this site's own code. The infrastructure that serves it also sees your requests, as it must in order to deliver a page.

• Web server logs. Standard access logs record IP addresses, timestamps and the URLs requested. The text you translate is sent in the body of a request rather than in the address, so it does not appear in these logs.
• Content delivery and security. The site sits behind a CDN that filters malicious traffic. It may set its own cookies for that purpose. These are not ours, we cannot read them, and they are not used to profile or advertise to you.

There is no account system and no advertising identifier, so there is nothing on our side to join this to a person.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people actually read. It is the only third-party script on the site. There is no advertising, no advertising identifier, and nothing here is sold.

What that means concretely:

• A script loads from Google. googletagmanager.com serves it. An earlier version of this page said no scripts load from another domain; that is no longer true and this sentence replaces it.
• Cookies are set. GA4 stores _ga and _ga_<id> in your browser to tell repeat visits from new ones. They are first-party cookies and expire on their own.
• Google receives your IP address as part of the request, along with the page you are on, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. GA4 does not store the full IP address in reports.
• The text you translate is never sent to Google Analytics. It goes only to the translation service described above, which is a separate system with a separate purpose.

We see aggregate reports — page views, countries, referrers — and cannot identify you from them. If you would rather not be counted, any tracker blocker stops it, and Google publishes its own opt-out browser add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you block it.

If the provider changes, or if advertising is ever added, this page will be updated before the change goes live rather than after.

The site is generally suitable for all ages and collects nothing that identifies anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and there is no mechanism here by which we could.
