About this site

Search for an Ilocano translator and you will find a dozen sites that look identical. They all call the same general-purpose translation engine, wrap it in a few hundred words of copy, and assert that the results are fast and accurate. None of them tell you when the result is wrong.

That gap is the whole reason for this site. We use the same engine everyone else does — we are not claiming a better one. What we add is 158 human-checked Ilocano–Tagalog phrases, notes on the words that trip people up, and a published measurement of how often the machine actually agrees with a careful human translation.

For the record, that figure is 56.9%. We put it on the homepage rather than burying it, because a tool you know the limits of is more useful than one you have to trust blindly.

John Smith. I compile Philippine-language phrase data from published references, check it against multiple sources, and measure the machine translation on this site rather than making claims about it. I am not a linguist. Entries I have not been able to confirm are marked as pending review rather than presented as verified.

Where a claim comes from a published source it is cited and linked. Where an entry rests on general reference rather than a citation, it is marked pending review and counted publicly — there are currently 11 such entries out of 158.

No native Ilocano speaker has yet reviewed the phrase data. When one does, they will be named on this page and on our editorial policy.

• We do not require an account, and there is nothing to pay for.
• We do not generate a page for every possible language pair. Pages without real pair-specific content are marked noindex rather than padded out.
• We do not invent speaker statistics. Population figures come from the 2020 Philippine Statistics Authority census and are linked.
• We do not claim professional-translator quality. For anything legal, medical or public-facing, hire a person.
